Join Me!

Now is the time for all of my students to set up gmail accounts, so I can add you as authors to this page. Please send me an email with your gmail address and I will set you up. This blog is meant for all of you, not just me. This will be a  place where we can share great work and discuss ideas from class in further detail. I look forward to what you have to share.

And so it begins.....

For a couple of years I have toyed with the idea of starting a blog for my students where they, along with me, could share and discuss ideas, projects, writing, etc.  Having rather successfully started and maintained a blog for my video production students, I felt it was time to dive into setting one up for my English classes to use as well.

Honestly I have high hopes for this site. Of course I chose to start it at the end of a year, which is really the worst time to do so. Frankly the kids (always have called my students this) and I are about maxed out on school, and interest and initiative are low. But I guess I figure I can make excuses to not start a blog at anytime of year as we live in an ever busier world. Plus I am known to fly by the seat of my pants and not always think things through. Bottom line: I know this can work and I know it can make a difference for my kids (and hopefully some others as well).

Of course, the real reason I decided today to start this blog is because I came across a great project idea for The Giver by Lois Lowry. And as I looked over the project and tweaked it to fit my kids and their needs, I realized these were going to be amazing projects and I am tired of my kids creating wonderful projects that I am the only one to see.

So feel free to grab some popcorn and watch the show as I try and figure out how best to make this site  work for my students and me. And feel free to leave us comments, whether they are words of encouragement or constructive criticism; we can use both. Please do remember to show some decorum and respect when sharing as I want to foster an environment that is safe for all to come and share.

And so it begins.
